Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Yoder-Barnhart.
Hi Nicole, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey began when I was 16 and my parents were home hunting. They were going to look at a house with a pool and I told my siblings that I was going to help sell our parents this house – mainly because my siblings and I wanted the pool.
The realtor arrived late and in a frenzy. They apologized about being late and said it was due to their receptionist recently quitting. Their phones had been ringing off the hook and they were struggling to keep up. I asked her how old someone needed to be to work for them, asked her about filling the position, and she hired me on the spot in the driveway. My parents did end up going through with buying the house, much to the joy of my siblings and I.
Two short years later, I became the youngest licensee in the State of Ohio.
Flash forward to now, almost 30 years later, and I am still loving being a real estate agent. The only difference between now and then is that my husband and I now manage a team of agents and get to help them on their journey – just like that agent did for me when I was 16.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The biggest challenge I faced was being so young in the industry. It was challenging being 18 while looking like I was 12 (I’m literally 4′ 11″ tall) to gain the confidence and trust of my clients with handling one of the biggest investments of their life.
As you know, we’re big fans of Yoder Barnhart Team with HER REALTORS®. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
It is rare for someone to work for the same brokerage for almost 30 years – most change every few years. That makes me extremely loyal to my clients and I have quite a few generational clients that I have helped their family buy and sell over the course of those 30 years.
Our team has multiple specialties and accreditations, including being relocation certified, meaning we can assist clients in any city or state to buy or sell a home, as well as new construction certified so we can better help our clients navigating the building process with their home builder.
We are also a husband-and-wife team, which is something that is unique in the real estate world, which gives us insight on how important a new home is to families.
